In IPC swimming, athletes with visual impairments are classified into three categories: S11, S12, and S13. These classes are based on the degree of visual impairment, with S11 being for athletes with very low visual acuity and/or no light perception, S12 for those with some light perception but limited visual field, and S13 for athletes with a higher level of visual acuity and/or a larger visual field. This classification system aims to ensure fair competition among athletes with varying degrees of visual impairments.
