The 27-year old Montenegrin player surprised Raducanu 6-4 4-6 6-3 to reach her first 3rd round at a grand slam. Speaking on her Australian Open experience, she said: "In the first round, I had a difficult match, I played three sets, but I did not feel tired when I went out on the court against the current champion of the US Open.

Kovinic, 27, had lost in the second round of six previous majors, but with the hard-fought victory became the first player representing Montenegro to make the last 32 at a Grand Slam. The World No.98 also sealed her fourth career Top 20 win - but her first on hard courts, and first on the major stage.
