Illinois 2023 elections. On February 28, 2023, Brandon Johnson and Paul Vallas advanced to an April 4 runoff election for mayor of Chicago, Illinois, as neither received more than 50 percent of the vote. They were the top-two vote-getters among the field of nine candidates, with Vallas receiving 33.8 percent and Johnson receiving 20.3 percent.
