Tamminiemi, originally built in 1904, was constructed by two Finnish architects, Sigurd Frosterus and Gustaf Strengell. It was designed in the Art Nouveau style and served as the residence of a Danish merchant, Jorgen Nissen. The villa later became the official residence of several Presidents of Finland, including Urho Kekkonen, and is now the Urho Kekkonen Museum.
