J.N. Fries Middle School was named in honor of Dr. Joseph Nelson Fries to recognize his significant contributions and commitment to the children of Cabarrus County. Dr. Fries served as the Cabarrus County Schools superintendent, and following his retirement, the school was named to honor his service and dedication to education in the area. The school originally opened in 1989 and has since been recognized for its educational excellence. Images of the school can be found here and here.
